The 2 inches of snow that fell this week definitely dressed the trails up a bit and improved skiing conditions somewhat as well.

Brief Report

The Service Road, Klaus Trail, and lower trails to the Aspen Loop were all groomed with the Ginzu groomers.  Classic track was set on the Service Road and the Klaus Trail.

Additional Information

Today’s groomers were Neil Alessio, Jeff and Scott.  The temperature was 30 degrees when we got underway at 8:15 AM and warmed up to the high 30’s when we wrapped up around 11:30 AM.   Overall, things groomed out nicely and should hold up well through tomorrow afternoon.  There are still thin areas and burned=out sections as well as protruding rocks and stumps in various portions of the trail system.  We did our best to mark these areas with pink flags, but skiers should use caution throughout the trail system.  Many thanks to our groomer David Dunlap, who was also on the mountain and shoveled snow on top of the burn out areas on the Service Road.  If you would like to get an idea of how the trails were looking this morning, this video shows us grooming from the road turn above the Aspen Loop on up to the Ellis Lot.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid to upper 60’s this week, which will almost certainly cause our already marginal conditions to further deteriorate.  Regarding our next planned grooming date: we will assess the conditions of the trails this coming Wednesday or Thursday and make a call at that time.  At this point it is unlikely that we will groom again until we get at least another 8-12 inches of new snow.  So please keep those snow dances going!
