What could be more rewarding than getting in a good day of skiing?? Getting in a good day of skiing AND helping the Sandia Nordic trail crew with a little trail maintenance, of course! Scott led a a great crew of 13 club members and friends helping with trail work and grooming. Many thanks go out to Dana Price, Mandy Wang, Steve Burstein, Jim Dryden, Paul Gourley, Tom Kirchgessner, Mike Madden, Chris Murray, Chris Norton, and Karl Walczak for helping with shoveling snow from the high to low side of canted sections of the trails. The shoveling crew focused mostly on the north return route from the 10K meadow, and made significant improvements leveling many sections of the trail. Greg Fenchel, the newest member of our grooming staff, worked with me today grooming our entire system. In his previous life as the supervisor of a major farming operation, Greg already has hundreds of hours riding ATVs. We are fortunate to have him join our grooming staff. Greg set classic tracks on the Service road and some one the lower trails and combined with all the shovel work, the trails are now great for classic and skate skiing. We are expecting another storm to come through tonight and for most of the day tomorrow (Yahoo!) and are planning on getting back out to groom on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks again to everyone who helped with the trail work today, and thanks to all for your support of Sandia Nordic!
