Nice day to be on the mountain, mostly sunny skies (we were skiing above the clouds!). No wind and the snow is staying nice and powdery. We have just around 6-8 inches but after some more grooming and shoveling today from team Sandia Nordic, aka the Flaming Watermelons, aka Greg Weix, Karl Walczak, Scott Dietrich, and myself tag-teaming running the ATV and shoveling, along with Steve Roholt shoveling Klaus, the trails are starting to shape up and we have a good start on the season.
Here and there are a few exposed rocks and some cambered sections, but one more good snowfall and it will be sweeeet! We saw quite a few skiers both classic and freestyle using the groomed trails and trail should hold up as temps stay low.
The service road again is plowed to near dirt, with barely a track along the edge of the road here and there. Can access groomed trails from Ellis parking lot. From the tram, best to take Rocky Point trail or Klaus, while okay for classic, Klaus we have not been able to completely groom until more white stuff.
Stay tuned and thanks for your support of Sandia Nordic Ski Club!
