By now you have probably heard that we got about 8 inches of new snow at the top of the Sandias last night! I am sure that everyone is wondering when we will begin grooming the trails, so I wanted to provide a quick update. We will be moving our storage container to the top of the mountain this Friday, and should have the grooming equipment up there early next week. We should be able to begin grooming after the next significant snowfall.
Normally we would have all of the equipment up top by late October, however, this year the Ski Area informed us in September that they needed to use the meadow where we normally store our equipment as a staging area for the restaurant construction project which will be going on throughout the winter. We have been in negotiations with our friends at the Sandia Ranger District since early October about an alternate location for the container this year and just last Thursday received word that they would allow us to put the container in the small clearing to the south of the gravel pit on the west side of the service road.
So, it shouldn’t be long before we have some nice corduroy with classic tracks to ski on at the top of the Sandias!
Thank you for your continued patience…
